As the name suggests, this tea's name has a very simple explanation: it was picked off of a high mountain. It originates from Taiwan and has a flavor profile not unlike our Iron Goddess varietal, but with a more floral emphasis rather than leafiness.
Legend says there was once a young merchant who wanted to sell a tea that had never been seen anywhere in the world (which, at the time, meant a single country: CHINA). So he did the one thing any sane man would do: he climbed the tallest mountain he could find. He ascended the mountain, trekked it's slopes, and discovered a wild field of stalks at it's peak. After carefully descending the mountain and studiously (perhaps even scientifically) employing the time honored method of copying the methods of his peers, this young merchant then sold the very first batch of (literally translated) High Mountain Oolong tea.
