The legendary 'Rock Tea' or 'Rock Oolong', a prized oolong hailing from the esteemed Wuyi Mountains of Fujian, boasts an enticing smoky, charred flavor. Its name is derived from a fascinating misnomer, as it was originally known as 'Red Robe'. The story of this name starts with a young scholar on the precipice of taking the imperial exam, an arduous test that would determine his fate as a powerful official at the Emperor's esteemed court

Seeking to calm his nerves, our young scholar embarked on a climb up the mountain now known as Wu Yi Shan and encountered a wise old man and an ancient tea tree. The elder prepared a steaming cup of tea for the anxious scholar, providing him with humble words of wisdom and encouragement for his impending exam along with advice to live his best life. Enlightened, the young scholar smiled and descended the mountain.

After passing the imperial exam with flying colors, he returned to the elder garbed in the uniform of a formal official: a Red Robe. The young scholar hung his new robe from the very same tree where the elder had inspired him to signify his respect and gratitude, symbolizing the profound impact their encounter had on his life and the success he attributed to the elder and his tea tree.
